Nur noch kriegswichtige Betriebe und das Milit\u00e4r erhielten Lokomotiven mit Dieselmotoren zugewiesen, Hierzu geh\u00f6rte das Heseper Torfwerk, der heutigen Klasmann-Deilmann AG in Geeste &#8211; Gro\u00df Hesepe wohl nicht. 1942 beschaffte man zwei baugleiche Lokomotiven (Fabr.Nr. 831 und 832) von der Rheiner Maschinenfabrik Windhoff AG, die mit einem Torfvergaser ausger\u00fcstet waren. Auch weitere Diesellokomotiven wurden in dieser Zeit von Dieselbetrieb auf Torfvergaser umgebaut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Der Torf wurde unter kontrolliertem Sauerstoffentzug nicht verbrannt sondern nur soweit erhitzt, dass er brennbare Gase freisetzte, die als Brennstoff dem Vergasermotor zugef\u00fchrt wurden. Wirklich gl\u00fccklich wurden die Betreiber mit den Torfvergaserlokomotiven nicht, denn diese Technik f\u00fchrte regelm\u00e4\u00dfig zu Betriebsst\u00f6rungen. Nach dem Krieg wurden die meisten Lokomotiven deshalb wieder auf Dieselbetrieb umgebaut. So auch unsere Windhoff 831, die hierbei auch neue Aufbauten erhielt.
