Als Nachfolgebauart der Deutz Vorkriegstype OMZ122 erhielt sie einen luftgek\u00fchlten Motor, eine hydraulische Kupplung und ein modernes Erscheinungsbild. Die Fertigung dieser Lokomotive wurde um 1960 von der Kl\u00f6ckner-Humboldt-Deutz AG in K\u00f6ln an die niederl\u00e4ndische Spoorijzer NV in Delft abgegeben worden, die bis dahin als niederl\u00e4ndischer Vertreter der Kl\u00f6ckner-Humboldt Deutz AG wirkte. So wurde unsere Deutz 56173 1955 \u00fcber Spoorijzer NV in Delft [NL] an die Steenfabrik Terwindt &amp; Arntz in Lobith [NL] geliefert. 1970 f\u00fchrte der Weg zur\u00fcck nach Deutschland zum Kieswerk Schulte &amp; Bruns in Kalkar-Wissel, das mit zahlreichen Lokomotiven dieses Typs einen beeindruckenden Bahnbetrieb zwischen dem Kieswerk und einem Verladehafen am Rhein unterhielt.
