Mit ihrem relativ g\u00fcnstigen Beschaffungspreis und der robusten Technik wurden allein bis 1945 ca. 1.750 St\u00fcck der OMZ117 gebaut und waren insbesondere in der Bauindustrie recht beliebt. In der Nachkriegszeit wurde die OMZ117 leicht modifiziert als Bauart A2L514F noch bis etwa 1960 angeboten und nochmal in ca. 140 Exemplaren gebaut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unsere drei Lokomotiven der Bauart OMZ 117 gelangten \u00fcberwiegend fabrikneu zur \u00a0Bauunternehmung Gebr. Neumann in Emden. Dieses Bauunternehmen existiert seit 1910 und noch heute sind der Wasser- und Deichbau besondere Dom\u00e4nen dieses Unternehmens. Zusammen mit ca. 20 anderen Dampf- und Diesellokomotiven, die die Gebr. Neumann seit den 1930er-Jahren beschafft haben, wurden mit Kipploren umfangreiche Erdbewegungen, z.B. Deichbau und Hafenanlagen, vorgenommen. Der zunehmende Einsatz von gel\u00e4ndeg\u00e4ngigen Lkw in der Zeit nach dem 2. Weltkrieg hat den personalintensiven Feldbahnbetrieb verdr\u00e4ngt. Letzte Eins\u00e4tze von Feldbahnen im Deichbau wird f\u00fcr Ostfriesland anl\u00e4sslich von Arbeiten nach der Sturmflut 1962 gemeldet.
