Wesentliches Merkmal dieser Lokomotivgeneration war der liegende Einzylindermotor. Anf\u00e4nglich mit Benzol- oder Benzinmotoren ausgestattet, setze sich Mitte der 1920er-Jahre langsam der Dieselmotor im Lokomotivbau durch. Besonders im Bergbau war der \u00dcbergang zum Dieselmotor auch aus Gr\u00fcnden der Grubensicherheit ein deutlicher Gewinn, denn der Lokomotivbetrieb unter Tage mit Benzin- und Benzollokomotiven in Verbindung mit der seinerzeit \u00fcblichen Abrei\u00dfz\u00fcndung f\u00fchrte zu zahlreichen Grubenexplosionen.<br>Die Deutz 9315 wurde neu an die Bergbaugesellschaft Mariagl\u00fcck in Celle f\u00fcr den Salzbergbau unter Tage geliefert.
