Die beeindruckende nat\u00fcrliche Silhouette des Steinbruchs f\u00fchrte zur Anlage eine Freilichtb\u00fchne, auf der von 1949 bis 1994 Karl-May-Festspiele stattfanden. In vielen Auff\u00fchrungen von begeisterte Pierre Brice als \u201eWinnetou\u201c. Zur Westernstadt-Kulisse geh\u00f6rte auch eine Westernbahn, bestehend aus einer als Dampflokomotive verkleideten Gruben-Diesellokomotive und besagten zwei Personenwagen in \u201eEchtholzlackierung\u201c. Die Westernbahn entstand um 1977 und wurde 1994 stillgelegt. 2003 \u00fcbernahm das M\u00fcnsterl\u00e4ndische Feldbahnmuseum die beiden Personenwagen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Feldbahnen sind klassischerweise Materialbahnen. Personenbef\u00f6rderung war auf Feldbahngleisen der Spurweite 600 mm ein eher seltener Einsatzzweck. Die h\u00e4ufig primitive Gleislage und die geringe Geschwindigkeit vom max. 15 km\/h waren f\u00fcr ernstzunehmenden Personenverkehr wenig geeignet. Dennoch haben sich auf gro\u00dfen industriell genutzten Feldbahnnetzen, wie z.B.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Heseper Torfwerke, Gro\u00df Hesepe\/ Emsland<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Erztransportbahn der Kl\u00f6cknerwerke bei L\u00f6hne (sog. Wall\u00fcckebahn)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Baubahn der Phillip Holzmann AG zwischen Rinkerode und Amelsb\u00fcren anl\u00e4sslich des Bahnbaus M\u00fcnster-Dortmund<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>zeitweise auch bescheidene \u00f6ffentliche Personenverkehre etablieren k\u00f6nnen. Dar\u00fcber hinaus waren und sind Feldbahnen f\u00fcr gro\u00dfe \u00f6ffentliche Parkanlagen in Form von sog. Parkbahnen ein beliebtes Transportmittel f\u00fcr fu\u00dfm\u00fcde Parkbesucher.
